New Sounds & Mark's Health Update

I have started to rehearse with Andrea Asprelli ( www.andreaapsprelli) who will be joining the group on violin and backing vocals for gigs in the spring and summer. It’s exciting to add a new texture to the group, a sound we have not heard in the band for over 20 years! It’s also been over a year that we have not had backing vocals in the group and since harmonies are such a trademark for The Kerry Boys, I felt it was time to add them back into the mix while Mark is not available to play and sing. When he is able to start playing again, it will be fun to hear some three-part harmony for the first time ever in the group.

Here’s an update on Marks health.

It has been 5 months since Mark received a stem cell transplant and he continues to go to Boston’s Dana Farber for checkups every two weeks. His blood counts are getting better all the time and many of the symptoms from all the meds and chemo are improving. He is still in isolation at home while his immune system recovers and when visiting we wear gloves and masks so as not to expose him to any bugs. While he is improving, because of the compromised immune system, he will not be able to go out in public for quite a while which means he will not be able to play music in March and we don’t know yet about the summer. Boredom is the worst part of it right now since he can’t go out of the house. It’s hard to play instruments with gloves and masks so we are not able to play music until the Dr’s say he can take them off. So we wait for that day!

Mark and his family would like to express their appreciation to everyone for their support and well wishes over the past year and wish everyone a Happy Holiday.

Cheers, Pierce
